Jay Gauldin – PresidentJay 1

Jay Gauldin is an accomplished manager and leader. Prior to entering the construction industry, he spent 15 years in the US Army, the last years of which were spent planning joint special operations missions. He has a degree in business administration from Campbell University, a Masters of Architecture in Building Construction from Virginia Tech and is a LEED Accredited Professional. After leaving the US Army, Jay was the President of Gauldin, LLC, a residential construction company in Roanoke, VA. Jay has also served as a commercial construction project manager with Martin Horn, where he managed major new construction and renovation projects for Albemarle County, the University of Virginia Healthcare System, numerous local developers, as well as private owners of projects such as historic Kenridge, which received first place in 2006 as the best example of historic preservation in Virginia. Jay also managed the Peabody School addition, which is the first LEED-certified project completed in the Charlottesville area. Prior to taking on the leadership role at PCC, Jay was the number two man for Albemarle County’s Capital Improvement Program for building construction. In addition to Jay’s construction management experience, he also teaches construction-related courses at Piedmont Virginia Community College in his spare time.

Brad Eppard – General SuperintendentBrad 7-28-09 at Gleason

Brad has worked for Piedmont Virginia Companies, formerly with R. E. Lee & Son, for most of his adult life. He started working summers as a laborer with his father, Charles Eppard, who is a superintendent for R. E. Lee & Son. After graduating from William Monroe High School in 1989, he worked for a year as a carpenter’s helper and then left to pursue other interests. In 1990, Brad returned to R. E. Lee & Son and in 1996, completed a four-year carpenter’s apprentice program. In 1998, Brad went on to become a Superintendent for the newly formed Piedmont Concrete Contractors. Brad’s contributions to the company and leadership resulted in a promotion to General Superintendent, where he currently manages the entire field workforce on a day-to-day basis.

Eric Hess – EstimatorEric 1

Eric Hess has had a long and varied career in the construction industry. He started building his experience in the construction in a family business that specialized in guiderail, fence, highway signs and small bridge repair. He worked in the family business throughout his teens, college years and early twenties in a variety of roles. After leaving the family business, Eric secured an estimating position with a shotcrete and gunite contractor that specialized in heavy/highway projects throughout the mid and south Atlantic states. Eric later moved to West Virginia where he worked for an architectural and engineering firm in their Construction Inspection & Testing Division as a Level III Technician on both private and WVDOH projects. For two years he was assigned to the WVDOH as a Materials Consultant with their District 3 Materials Group. Later on, Eric moved to one of Virginia’s largest general contractors, where he worked as part of an estimating team and as lead estimator for several successful projects. In January of 2009 he relocated to the Charlottesville area and began working for Piedmont Concrete Contractors
